Job Description
Olsson is seeking an experienced Senior Transportation Planner to join our team and lead the development of innovative transportation solutions that positively impact communities. In this role, you will serve as a key technical expert, providing guidance and leadership in all aspects of transportation planning initiatives including multimodal corridor studies, subarea studies, regional transportation plans, technical support, and policy development.

You will research, study, and analyze demographic data, attend public meetings, develop alternatives, use GIS mapping and spatial analysis, and completes reports and memos pertaining to your projects. The ideal candidate will be comfortable communicating and interacting with clients and presenting to groups of all sizes.

Primary Responsibilities:

Oversee project development to ensure adherence to quality standards and objectives.
Provide strategic guidance to address complexities in transportation projects and optimize design approaches.
Collaborate with team members to streamline workflows and enhance project delivery.
Conduct extensive research to inform transportation planning strategies and decision-making processes.
Supervise and evaluate technical assignments of junior staff, fostering professional development.
Conduct thorough research, analyze demographic data, and attend public meetings for transportation planning insights.
Utilize GIS mapping and spatial analysis to develop tailored solutions for project needs.
Deliver concise reports and memos with valuable recommendations for transit initiatives.
Excel in communication, engaging with clients and presenting to diverse groups.
You will work in various terrain and weather conditions at project sites.
Periodic travel for project-related tasks and business development efforts is required.

Proven ability to work autonomously, demonstrating initiative, self-motivation, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Bachelor’s or master's degree in urban planning, architecture, public policy, geography, or related field.
Must be a Certified Planner (AICP).
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in transportation planning.
Minimum of 4 years of experience supervising technical personnel or serving as a project manager.
Strong analytical skills.
Proven technical writing ability.
Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
Proficiency in several computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets and database software.
Experience in ArcGIS or ArcPro software.
Valid driver's license with a good driving history.
