A Day in the Life of an Engineer I/II

You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging quick-build projects. Like larger capital projects, which are predominantly constructed with asphalt and concrete materials, quick-build projects are meant to be built quickly using a variety of materials, flexible delivery processes, and funding mechanisms that are developing rapidly. As a member of the augmented staff team, you will support an interdisciplinary team to deliver quick-build multimodal transportation infrastructure projects in a wide range of contexts, from roadway reconfigurations in highly urban settings to full intersection reconstructions to better serve all users. You will share your knowledge with a diverse team to develop project scopes, concept plans, and ultimately deliver final construction plan documents. You will use drafting programs such as MicroStation to fulfill project deliverables, while ensuring that our projects are consistently of the highest quality. You will also have access to key department leaders within the City of Austin's transportation department, who will help to set clear project goals and outcomes.

Rapid implementation is exciting and fast-paced, but you get to work with a close-knit, motivated team that is passionate about the work they do. You will get to see your projects evolve from paper to pavement, transforming the City of Austin and getting to use the facilities you helped design.

Qualifications of a Senior Civil Engineer/Roadway Engineer:

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil/transportation engineering
0+ years (Engineer I), 2+ years (Engineer II) of transportation facility design experience, with a demonstrated interest in developing construction documents
