Please note that in 2026, all TexITE Awards will be given out at the Spring TexITE meeting in Houston since there is only one district meeting this year.  That means that all award nominations will be due by 11:59pm on March 1, 2026 except for the Norman Hogue Roundabout Project of the Year.  Nominations for that award will be due by 11:59PM, Sunday, February 15th, 2026.

The award criteria and submission format for the TexITE versions of the Student Paper Award, Outstanding Section Award, Section Momentum Award, Student Chapter Award, Student Chapter Momentum Award, and Transportation Achievement Award are the same as those found in the ITE Annual Awards brochure found here: ITE Annual Awards

2026 Norman Hogue Roundabout Award Nominations

TexITE and the Roundabout Committee is proud to announce its call for project nominations for the Norman Hogue Roundabout Project of the Year Award. This award is presented annually to a public agency who sponsors the roundabout project nomination. Nominations shall include the Cover Page Form, Design Information Form and required Appendix information. See below for a link to the application form. The submittals are due by 11:59PM (CST), Sunday, February 15th, 2026, and should be emailed to awards@texite.org.

The winning agency will be contacted and invited to attend TexITE’s Annual Conference, taking place April 8-10, 2026 in Houston, to accept the award in-person. 2026 Student Paper Award

The Student Paper Award is awarded annually for a significant paper prepared by a student member of ITE. The winner of the TexITE Student Paper award will be submitted to ITE for consideration of the ITE Student Paper Award in honor of Daniel B. Fambro.  Nominations must be submitted electronically to Brian A. Moen, P.E., Texas District Award Coordinator, at awards@texite.org by 11:59pm (CST) on March 1, 2026. The requirements are the same as those defined in the ITE Annual Awards brochure on pages 16-17.

 

2026 Outstanding Section Award

The Outstanding Section Award is presented annually to recognize a Section of TexITE for outstanding service to the members of the Section. Nominations must be submitted electronically to Brian A. Moen, P.E., Texas District Award Coordinator, at awards@texite.org by 11:59pm (CST) on March 1, 2026. The requirements are the same as those defined in the ITE Annual Awards brochure on page 14.

 

2026 Section Momentum Award

The purpose of Section Momentum Award is to recognize the Section that, during the previous calendar year, has implemented innovative programs or activities that have helped the Section gain momentum and improve. Nominations must be submitted electronically to Brian A. Moen, P.E., Texas District Award Coordinator, at awards@texite.org by 11:59pm (CST) on March 1, 2026. Sections submitting for the Section Momentum Award should send a 2-page narrative that covers specific improvements or special efforts that Section leadership has implemented that have resulted in positive change for the Section and its members. The requirements are the same as those defined in the ITE Annual Awards brochure on page 15.  The Section Award submission will not be accepted as the Section Momentum Award submission.

 

2026 Student Chapter Award

The Student Chapter Award is presented annually to recognize a Student Chapter of TexITE for outstanding service to the members of the Student Chapter. Nominations must be submitted electronically to Brian A. Moen, P.E., Texas District Award Coordinator, at awards@texite.org by 11:59pm (CST) on March 1, 2026. The requirements are the same as those defined in the ITE Annual Awards brochure on page 18.

 

2026 Student Chapter Momentum Award

The Student Chapter Momentum Award is presented annually to recognize a Student Chapter of ITE that has experienced the greatest momentum (or most improvement) in a particular activity or initiative for the past year. Nominations must be submitted electronically to Brian A. Moen, P.E., Texas District Award Coordinator, at awards@texite.org by 11:59pm (CST) on March 1, 2026. Chapters submitting for the Student Chapter Momentum Award should send a 2-page narrative that covers specific improvements and/or special efforts that chapter leadership has implemented and describe the positive change for the Chapter and the membership. The requirements are the same as those defined in the ITE Annual Awards brochure on page 19.

 

2026 Transportation Achievement Awards

The Transportation Achievement Awards are presented annually to recognize excellence in advancing transportation to meet human needs. These awards are open to a variety of entities, including governmental bodies, Tribes, consulting firms, private corporations, and other industry organizations. TexITE may present one award in each of the six categories. Nominations must be submitted electronically to Brian A. Moen, P.E., Texas District Award Coordinator, at awards@texite.org by 11:59pm (CST) on March 1, 2026. The requirements are the same as those defined in the ITE Annual Awards brochure on pages 8-9.

2026 Younger Member of the Year

The TexITE Younger Member of the Year Award is presented annually to recognize an individual young member of TexITE for leadership, commitment to excellence and activism within TexITE and other professional groups. This award is limited to those members of TexITE who are age 34 or younger as of January 1, 2026. Past recipients of this award are not eligible. Nominees shall have demonstrated unusual or continuing and outstanding contributions to TexITE and other professional groups through their leadership, commitment to excellence and activism. Nominations shall include the nomination form and a brief statement of support (200 words max) from a current or past supervisor. Additional support letters may be included. Three examples of the nominee’s specific project experience should be included (150 words max each).  Nominations should be submitted electronically to Brian A. Moen, P.E., Texas District Awards Coordinator, at awards@texite.org by 11:59pm (CST) on March 1, 2026.

2026 Transportation Professional of the Year

The Transportation Professional of the Year Award is presented annually to recognize an individual member of TexITE for outstanding practice, teaching or research of the science and art of transportation. Nominees shall be a member of TexITE, have at least five years of professional experience, and have demonstrated unusual or continuing and outstanding contributions to the transportation profession in any of the areas of administration, professional practice, teaching or research. Nominations shall include the nomination form and a brief statement of support (1 to 2 pages). Additional support letters may be included. Nominations must be submitted electronically to Brian A. Moen, P.E., Texas District Awards Coordinator, at awards@texite.org by 11:59pm (CST) on March 1, 2026.
