A year ago, such words as “pandemic” and “social distancing” were new to us and we anticipated this would be a very brief interruption in our lives. When we postponed the Corpus Christi meeting from 2020 to 2021, we expected that the pandemic to be a distant memory. Unfortunately, it has become clear through our online survey that our membership will be unable to attend a Corpus Christi meeting this May 2021.

Therefore, the TexITE Board has voted to reschedule the meeting to Spring 2022 in Corpus Christi.

At this time, please move forward with cancelling any hotel reservation and travel arrangements you may have made for this event. I would like to express my gratitude to Kevin St. Jacques who will no doubt hold the world record as the longest serving Local Arrangements Chair. Kevin has graciously agreed to continue as the LAC and is committed to a fantastic meeting next spring in Corpus Christi.

Over the next several weeks, Vice President Erin Eurek will be working with the program committee to ensure opportunities for acquiring the PDHs that you need to fulfill your continuing education requirements. We will also be working out details to ensure that our award winners are recognized appropriately and that we send the best traffic bowl team to the International ITE meeting this summer.

Stay tuned for TexITE events planned this spring!

Our next scheduled meeting is our 2021 Fall Meeting which will be held jointly with ITS Texas in the Dallas area in October/November 2021. Due to the uncertainty of the pandemic we have been moving cautiously forward but expect to have the location and dates for this meeting within the next few weeks. As of now here is our meeting schedule for the next couple of years:

Spring 2021 – Cancelled
Fall 2021 – Joint Meeting with ITS Texas – Dallas Area (October/November)
Spring 2022 – Corpus Christi (May 4-6)
Fall 2022 – Denton (September 27-30)
Spring 2023 – Lubbock

It seems a lifetime ago the last time we were together in Austin – July 2019! I am eagerly looking forward to being with all of you again this fall and I know you are too!

Sincerely
Paul Luedtke
TexITE President
