Welcome to the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) South Texas Section web site. ITE is a community of transportation professionals acting as a source of expertise, knowledge and ideas. The South Texas ITE Section (STITE) is a part of the Texas District (TexITE) and includes the area between Del Rio, San Antonio, Victoria and the Rio Grande Valley. We welcome you to attend our events and become a Section member. Membership with International ITE is encouraged but not required.
News and Upcoming Events
February Meeting
The South Texas ITE Section February Meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Mr. Russell Henk from Texas Transportation Institute will be presenting on "Teens in the Driver Seat Safety Program."
The meeting will be held at Grady's BBQ at 6510 San Pedro in San Antonio (see map below). Registration and lunch will begin in the Banquet Room at 11:30 a.m. with Section business and the presentation to follow.
The cost of the meeting is $10 for members, $15 for nonmembers (membership included) and $5 for students and includes lunch (brisket/turkey, trimmings, tea). Please RSVP online by 5:00 p.m., Monday, February 22. The cost of the meeting without reservations is $5 and lunch is available for purchase at the counter.
Business Card Ads
Business card ad space is now being offered for 2010. The annual cost is $100.00 and your ad will be placed in each of our four newsletters provided to our members via email and on the website. Your logo will also be included our web site. Both ads will run through the end of the year. This is an opportunity for increasing your company’s advertising while offering support to the Section.
If you would like an ad included, you may forward your electronic file immediately to sotexite@gmail.com and follow up with a check sent to our Secretary/Treasurer, Mike Garza (or pay by PayPal to sotexite@gmail.com). The check should be made out to South Texas ITE Section and mailed to the following address:

2009 October Section Meeting
The October Section Meeting was held on October 28, 2009 and featured a presentation and tour of the City of San Antonio (COSA) Traffic Management Center (TMC).

2009 June Section Meeting

2009 South Texas/Capital Area Joint Meeting
The 2nd Annual South Texas & Capital Area Joint Meeting was held in San Marcos and featured John Barton of the Texas Department of Transportation speaking on "The Transportation Economy in Texas" and Gary Gordon with the Transportation Security Administration speaking on "Overview of the TSA's Surface Program and The New Regulations." The meeting turned out to be another success.

2009 April Section & UTSA Student Chapter Meeting
The April Meeting at UTSA was well attended with Jim Dale of PTV America giving a very informative presentation on “Analyzing the Transportation System - What's Possible with Simulation.” Pate Engineers sponsored the meal cost for the students.

2009 January Section Meeting
