ITE Webinars on 2009 MUTCD: ITE is offering several webinar opportunities to learn about the new Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Webinars will be held on February 9 and 23 and March 2 and 9. For more information, visit the ITE web site.

Texas A&M Wins Texas Traffic Bowl: 
Congratulations to the Texas A&M student chapter on winning the first ever Texas District Collegiate Traffic Bowl. Pictured from left: Phillip Dunham, Kristopher Ball, Ben Sperry, and Andrew Persyn. They will now go on to compete against other district winners at the ITE Annual Meeting in Vancouver in August.

Call for Papers - District Technical Award: TexITE announces its call for papers for the 2010 TexITE Technical Paper Award. This award is presented annually to recognize the outstanding technical paper prepared by a non-student member or affiliate of TexITE. Papers are due by April 30. See the award nominations page for more details and to download the nomination form. The author of the selected paper will receive a $100 cash award.

On-Line Registration Ends Thursday at 5:00 PM: Don't miss the TexITE Winter Meeting in Frisco on January 28-30. There will be lots of opportunities for professional development, networking, and just plain fun. Be sure to check out the pedestrian safety training class that is being offered prior to the meeting. 2009 MUTCD Is Now Available: On December 16, 2009 a final rule adopting the 2009 Edition of the MUTCD was published in the Federal Register. States must adopt the 2009 National MUTCD as their legal State standard for traffic control devices within two years.

ITE Collegiate Traffic Bowl is Coming: ITE is in the final stages of preparing for the first annual ITE Collegiate Traffic Bowl competition. Each district will host a competition to crown a champion to represent the district at the ITE Annual Meeting in Vancouver. The Texas District will hold their competition at the Winter Meeting in Frisco in January. Stay tuned for more details.

DART Station Renamed in Honor of Jack Hatchell: From DART: West Plano Transit Center has become the Jack Hatchell Transit Center, in memory of the longtime and highly respected Collin County official and transportation leader.
Jack Hatchell was also a longtime member of TexITE who passed away in June 2008.

Modern Roundabout Workshop - August 9: In conjunction with the ITE Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Ourston Roundabout Engineering is offering a day long workshop on roundabouts. The cost to attend the seminar is $250 for private sector employees, $25 for public sector employees, and free for students (w/ ID). Participants earn 8 PDHs for completing the seminar. ITE Awards - Call for Nominations: Each year, ITE sponsors an awards program to honor outstanding achievement in transportation engineering and distinguished service to ITE. The awards bestow international recognition upon the recipients and increase the public's awareness of the role and responsibilities of the transportation engineer. Following are the current calls for nominations with a deadline of April 1, 2009:
