Description:
The Sr. Engineer is responsible for the study, design, specification and services of all rail transportation systems. Under general supervision, performs all conventional aspects of the functional area subject matter. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluations, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice, but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult engineers. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.
- Works independently to complete the planning, design and execution of projects that meet or exceed client expectations, are within the agreed budget, and are delivered on or ahead of schedule and with minimal risk to the health and safety of people and the environment
- Demonstrating strong understanding of client needs and achieve a high level of satisfaction
- Provide direction, mentoring and support to bid teams and project staff
- Supervise project staff and review deliverable to ensure compliance with technical and quality assurance standards
- Assist the Sales leader to develop business opportunities
- Monitor costs on an ongoing basis and do not allow them to exceed the predetermined and approved budget costs
- Develop and maintain client relationships and industry knowledge
- Prepare technically sound, well written and easily understood proposals and reports
REQUIREMENTS
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 7+ years of experience
- Design and practical experience in an operating environment (either maintenance or construction)
- Strong technical design ability specifically permanent way
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of commercial arrangements and relationships
- Strong practical knowledge of, and commitment to, health and safety in a railway operating environment
