2012 Incoming Officer Nominees

Below are quick bios of our 2012 incoming Secretary/Treasurer Officer nominees.  They are listed in alphabetical order:

 

Matt Johnson, PE, PTOE, PTP (Freese & Nichols, Inc)

Matthew Johnson, PE, PTOE, PTP has been practicing engineering in the Houston area for nearly ten years. He is currently working as a Project Manager for Freese and Nichols. Matt has been an active member of the Greater Houston Chapter of the Texas Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers for nearly six years. During his time with TexITE he has acted as programs chair for three years, statewide chair of future engineers for two years, local representative to the newsletter committee for two years and he is now acting as the statewide newsletter editor. In 2010, Matt was the recipient of the TexITE Houston Section’s Young Member of the Year award. He believes that commitment to our professional society is key to the promotion of traffic and transportation engineering.

 

 

 

 

Eric Nelson, PE (Advanced Traffic Solutions, LLC)

Eric Nelson, PE received his BSCE and MSCE from Purdue University in ’98 and ’00.  He’s been a member of ITE since 1998 and has had a variety of public and private sector experience, including Illinois DOT, Siemens ITS, Harris County, and Fourth Dimension Traffic.  He is presently the President of Advanced Traffic Solutions, LLC, Houston, Texas.  Eric is passionate about efficient traffic signal operations and is usually coming up with new and creative ways of pushing the envelope of modern traffic control equipment, including designing controller functionality that makes such operations easier.  He is presently a member of the TRB Traffic Signal Systems Committee and has been a long standing member of both ITE and ASCE.  He serves as Vice President of his Condo High-rise Association which has given him the opportunity to cost effectively implement various ITS technologies on the premises (integrating parking security systems with building access systems), among other projects.  At Purdue he was a Resident Assistant for 3 years and understands the meaning of giving back.  Eric is passionate about the profession and would be honored to serve, just as those before me.
