Future Engineers Committee

Purpose

The purpose of the District 9 Future Engineers Committee is to encourage students in Texas public schools to seek higher education in the engineering and science fields, with an emphasis on transportation engineering.

Suggested Activities

The Future Engineers Committee has identified several suggested activities that you and your Section may wish to be involved with. We have also listed the names of TexITE members who have participated in these activities in the past. Click here to view the list of activities. Each Section within TexITE has been asked to participate either as individuals or a group in at least one activity this year.

2006 Poster Competition

In 2006, the USDOT celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Interstate Highway System. As part of this celebration, District 9 is held a poster competition for 5th and 6th grade students. The purpose of this contest was to introduce students to the transportation profession. Below are a letter to educators, a flyer that provided the details about the competition, a release form, suggested topics for classroom discussion, and a brief summary of the history of the Interstate Highway System.
